Healthy Church: Biblical Discipleship

Christians know they're supposed to do discipleship, but many aren't sure where to start. Does it require a curriculum, a formal program, or special training? What does biblical discipleship actually look like, and why is it essential to a healthy church?

In this episode of Salty Believer Unscripted, Josiah Walker and Bryan Catherman continue their Healthy Church series with the sixth of Mark Dever's Nine Marks of a Healthy Church: a biblical concern for discipleship and growth. Looking at Matthew 28:19–20 and 2 Timothy 2:2, they discuss why discipleship involves more than gaining biblical knowledge. Christians should grow in obedience to Christ and help others do the same.

They also offer practical suggestions for discipling others, including one-on-one Bible reading, intentional relationships, and family discipleship. Whether it's encouraging your spouse, reading Scripture with your children, or meeting with another Christian over coffee, discipleship doesn't need to be complicated. They also recommend David Helm's One-to-One Bible Reading as a helpful resource.

Join us as we discuss discipleship and Christian growth on Salty Believer Unscripted. We also get a little sidetracked by candy corn and bad illustrations of the Trinity. Listen here:
